Cameron Voorhees Smith, 29, formerly of Harvard, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.
Cameron was born May 7, 1983, to Harvard residents Steven and Suzanne Smith. He was educated in the Harvard school system, graduating from the Bromfield School in 2001. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and information technology management at Babson College in 2005.
Growing up in Harvard, Cameron involved himself in the community through Boy Scouts, earning his rank as an Eagle Scout. He was also involved in the Bromfield theater and music groups and sang baritone in the church choir at St. Theresa’s. He was very musically talented both vocally and instrumentally, playing both the saxophone and piano.
Cameron’s professional career included working as a financial analyst at EMC and Comcast Corporation. He also had a strong passion for entrepreneurial business ideas which he enjoyed pursuing in his free time.
Cameron was very intelligent and proud of his accomplishments. He was fun loving with a warm heart and had a strong individualism. He had a profound creativity and impressive imagination. He loved to make whomever he was around smile with his witty sense of humor.
He enjoyed traveling the world including Europe, Iceland, and Greece, learning new languages such as Japanese, and reading a wide range of book genres. He was also a very accomplished gamer and an avid movie watcher.
Loving him always are his mother, Suzanne V. Smith, of Devens; father, Steven L. Smith, and stepmother Stacey B. Weston, of Dracut; and his sisters Whitney M. Smith and Hillary A. Smith.
He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all those he left behind.
Friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity (St. Theresa’s) Catholic church in Harvard. His interment will follow at the Bellevue Cemetery on Still River Road (Route 110), in Harvard.
