A contractor working on a local home severed multiple fingers on his right hand Tuesday morning with a table saw, according to Harvard Police. The man was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
According to police, the man, who is in his mid-40s, was working on a home on Warren Avenue when the accident occurred around 9 a.m. A co-worker attempted to drive him to the hospital, but didn’t know how to get there, police say. The co-worker called 911 and Harvard Ambulance, with Advanced Life Support, responded and picked up the injured man near the intersection of Pond Road and Massachusetts Avenue, according to police.
Police say they were initially called to search for the severed fingers, but the search was later called off. It’s unclear if the fingers were still partially attached to the man’s hand or if or he or his co-worker had them with him.
Three fingers were cut, police say.
