With Memorial Day weekend behind them, Ricciardi Bros construction crews returned to Harvard Tuesday to continue laying new water mains on Ayer Road and sewer mains in the center of town.
At the regular weekly meeting of the sewer building team on Wednesday, Ricciardi project manager Ron Ferraluolo said that over the next two weeks his crews hoped to finish their work on Ayer Road and then move on to Still River Road to lay the main that will service properties in the sewer district south of town center.
Town Administrator Tim Bragan complimented Ricciardi on the “outstanding” job the company had done capping and paving sewer and water trenches in the center of town and cleaning up construction debris in time for Memorial Day activities.
Digging the trench for a new water main on Ayer Road has progressed slowly due to the rocky ledge workers have encountered, as well as problems with the hydraulic hammer they are using to break it up for excavation. But construction of the water and sewer mains was still on track to be done by June 30, Ferraluolo said.
Meanwhile, assembly of the wastewater treatment on Massachusetts Avenue plant continues, with little or no disruption of traffic.
