At 12:42 a.m., the Harvard Fire Department responded to a call for mutual aid at a large fire on Main Street in Ayer. At 1:17 a.m., a passerby reported seeing two youths in the breezeway in front of the General Store on Still River Road. Because of the recent cases of vandalism, the passerby was concerned, police say. An officer chased the youths, but lost them in the cemetery, police say. At 8:50 a.m., a resident of Littleton Road told police the noise from construction at her neighbor’s home was too loud for her to enjoy her garden. Police told the woman the work was being done during reasonable hours and there was nothing they could do. At 3:09 p.m., a caller reported a motorcyclist riding with his hands in his pockets on Littleton County Road near Oak Hill Road. Police searched the area, but could not locate any motorcycles. At 11:53 p.m., police investigated a motor vehicle accident on Prospect Hill Road caused when a car hit a deer. There was significant front-end damage to the car. The driver refused medical attention, police say. The deer apparently managed to leave the scene before police arrived.

At 1:01 p.m., a resident of Cove Drive called police to ask for advice after being bitten by his neighbor’s dog. Police referred the call the animal control officer.
Thursday, June 21
At 2:10 a.m., a man reported seeing kids blocking Ayer Road near Gokey & Quinn Bus Company with large rocks and traffic cones. With the help of the caller, police cleared the road. Police report they could not find the youths. At 5:36 a.m., police received a report of vandalism at Gokey & Quinn Bus Company on Ayer Road. Someone smashed in windows there, police say. At 11:10 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm going off at an Abbott Lane home. Police discovered two men there, but report they were housesitters and their identity checked out. The homeowner returned later, police say, and first said items were missing, but after a follow-up investigation by police, said nothing was missing. At 4:18 p.m., a resident of Depot Road reported a tree stump had fallen off a DPW truck that was passing by, rolled through her yard, and hit the side of her parked car. Police estimate the damage at $1,500. The DPW returned to the home to remove the stump.

At 10:19 a.m., police sent items to the State Police crime lab in Sudbury to be analyzed.
Saturday, June 23
At 9:13 a.m., a Still River Road woman called police to ask advice about removing her wedding ring. It was stuck, the woman told police. Police told her they could send an ambulance, which the woman declined. At 9:47 a.m., the State Police transferred to Harvard Police a 911 call they received. The speaker was inaudible, police say, but it sounded as if a fight could be going on. Police tracked the phone to its source and found that it was a mother and son going to the transfer station. One of them had dialed the phone by accident, police say. There was no fight.
Sunday, June 24
At 9:38 a.m., a worker at the town beach asked police to check out a boat trailer that had been parked there several days. After asking some pond area residents, police determined the owners of the trailer and left them a message. At 10:25 a.m., police responded to a report of someone shooting at gophers or a moving target on Eldridge Road. Police located the shooters, who were on their own property and not breaking the law, police say. At 7:55 p.m., a driver on South Shaker Road reported a black Jeep was tailgating his vehicle. Police could not locate a Jeep matching that description.
Monday, June 25
At 2:50 p.m., police investigated a report that someone had stopped in front of an Ayer Road home, taken a picture, and driven off. Police could not locate the suspicious photographer. At 7:25 p.m., a person watching a Bolton Road home while its owners were on vacation told police a car was missing from the driveway. Police left a message for the vacationing homeowners and will not file a stolen vehicle report until they confirm the homeowners didn’t give someone permission to take the car, police say.
