EMT-B and driver training classes
Since 1972, the Harvard Ambulance Service has provided skilled emergency care and hospital transport to anyone in town who becomes injured or suddenly ill. We respond 24 hours a day, every day, to any and every situation. Our squad is composed entirely of volunteer emergency medical technicians. It’s a big and rewarding commitment.
Each fall, the Harvard Ambulance Service offers qualified adult residents and Bromfield students the opportunity to undergo EMT-Basic training, paid for by Harvard Ambulance. This training consists of roughly 140 hours of classroom education and skills development, and culminates in two state examinations. Knowledgeable and experienced instructors, coupled with the squad’s commitment to helping cadets learn by doing, have consistently produced a very high pass rate.
Another opportunity to serve Harvard Ambulance is to become a certified driver. Candidates will be provided with First Responder training (24 hours) and will receive instruction and practice driving the ambulance. Certification requires demonstrating safe vehicle operating skills. Most of our adult EMTs have successfully completed the squad’s driver-training program and are certified drivers.
