Handy People’s Project
The Congregational Church of Harvard is offering a community fix-it program to all Harvard residents. If you have a chore you need help with or a problem that you can’t solve, let the church know and it will provide a “handy person” to help. Services offered are light carpentry, simple plumbing, computer technology, and other indoor and outdoor chores. On the road with COA
Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more details or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.
- Monday, April 30. The COA will visit the park where the Babe pitched, and Yaz dazzled, and today’s stars still thrill Red Sox Nation. Fenway Park provides a 50-minute guided tour of the ball park. The group leaves Hildreth House at 9 a.m. and returns at 3 p.m. Lunch will be at an adjacent sports bar before the group leaves the Fenway area. Cost is $20, plus lunch.
- Friday, May 11. This new production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical “South Pacific” at the Hanover Theatre is already sold out to the general public, but the Council on Aging purchased tickets months ago. The group will leave the Hildreth House at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $60, with payment due upon reservation.
- Wednesday, May 23. Mount Auburn is first and foremost a cemetery, but it is also a National Historic Landmark, a botanical garden, an outdoor museum, and a habitat for urban wildlife. We will have a guided tour after which we will have lunch in a local Harvard Square restaurant. Cost for the van and tour is $20. We will leave Hildreth House at 8:30 a.m. and return by 3 p.m.
