Sharon McCarthy would be an asset to the Board of Health. As a former Chair of the Board of Health, I had the opportunity to work with Sharon when we were dealing with the mold problem in the K-Wing of the Elementary School. As a member of the School Committee, Sharon’s experience was invaluable in taking the lead on this issue and getting the School Committee to understand both the nature of the problem and the options for mitigation. Sharon got involved in the details, from crawling around in the crawl space, to discussing mold sampling and remediation. This was critical to finding a way forward as the problem had proven difficult for the Board of Health, School Committee, and Board of Selectmen to find common ground.
Sharon’s openness, technical expertise, and drive to serve others would provide a great service to our town. For those reasons, I am supporting Sharon’s candidacy for the Board of Health.
