The Bromfield boys varsity baseball team has high expectations for the upcoming season. After losing two strong players to graduation last year, Derek Silver and Miles Jarvis, this year’s team has only three returning players. The team’s goal for the season is focusing on winning the district title and making it to the post-season tournament.
Bromfield’s starting pitcher is junior co-captain Trevor Granville, a returning varsity player who will also be batting at the top of the order. Although it is his first year on the varsity team, freshman Zane Atwood will be the team’s starting catcher.
Senior co-captain Clayton Galeski is the team’s primary first baseman and will contribute as a pitcher as well.
When asked about the upcoming season, Galeski said, “I’m excited to play my last year of baseball ever and am really hoping to make districts.”
Junior Michael Jackowitz will cover either shortstop or second base, and, along with teammates sophomore Caleb Green and senior Jason Frye, will contribute offensively with strong hitting. Senior newcomer Peter Nocka, one of the team’s fastest runners, will also help cover second base.
Nick George, junior and first-year varsity player, will play at second and third bases, and will pitch as well. Sophomores Ben Veno and C.J. Klem, junior Ben Fobert, and seniors Eric Hazoury and Sam Carlson will cover the outfield.

Coach John Neusch is returning for his fifth season with Bromfield baseball. He said he sees a better future for the Bromfield baseball program as this year’s team is enthusiastic about baseball and the program in general.
“I just really want and hope that the kids achieve their goals this season,” Neusch said. “They want to improve the baseball program and I hope for their sake that this season doesn’t disappoint them.”
In terms of his team’s strengths, Neusch said: “This year the team’s attitude is much better than in previous years and overall the players have a lot more experience.”
After losing a tough season opener against Narragansett Regional High School on Monday, April 2, 13-1, Bromfield preparing for its first home game of the season on Monday, April 9, against Oakmont Regional High School.
