As somebody who has seen the entire evolution of the Vicksburg Square proposal I am certain of only one thing: The project is designed solely around the tax credits that make this project profitable for Trinity Financial. When they say the numbers work for them, I’m sure they know what they are talking about. However, when the towns look at the project, none of the numbers work for us.
I have also attended many meetings soliciting “public input;” yet I have yet to see any of this public wisdom incorporated into the project. In fact the design of the project has evolved little if at all since it was first presented to MassDevelopment a few years ago. Hardly the kind of design process we were promised at the start.
In short, the proposal for Vicksburg Square may be a short-term win for Trinity but a long-term losing proposition for the towns of Ayer and Harvard. This is something I cannot support.
I encourage you to attend the special town meeting on March 28, listen to the debate and then you can decide if you will join me in voting no on Vicksburg Square.
