Neighbors helping neighbors is what it’s all about. The town of Harvard is in the middle of its annual Elderly and Disabled Tax Fund Campaign. To date, we have received the amount of $9,400. We are just shy of half our goal of $20,000. Rick Maiore updates the fund’s thermometer frequently, and it is this action that prompted a donation from a little boy who lives in the nearby town of Boxborough.
“Henry” and his mom ride through the town of Harvard daily and Henry has noticed the thermometer on the common and asked his mom what it was for. Mom explained that it represents donations that have been given to the town to help people pay their property taxes. Henry’s mom said when Henry heard this he said, “I want to help.” So on Thursday afternoon, Henry and his mom came in with a cash donation.
Did I forget to say that Henry is five years old? When I received his donation and thanked him, the smile on his face was priceless. I explained that he has helped many people with his donation.
All it takes are many small donations that lead to a large amount of money; won’t you consider a small donation just as Henry did to help your fellow neighbors in need? I would like to thank all of you who have already made donations to this worthy cause and ask those of you who haven’t to consider “a small donation.”
