At the March 14 meeting of the Finance Committee, Harvard resident Ames Hardymon Schnier read a statement during the public comment period saying that it was “disheartening” that the committee had not allowed one of its recent meetings to be broadcast on local cable television. (See Schnier’s statement in “Letters to the Editor” this week.)
In response, Finance Committee chair Marie Fagan said, “I take full responsibility for that. It was my misunderstanding of what we’re allowed to decide under the Open Meeting Law. That was entirely my fault.”
Associate Finance Committee member Laura Vilain then noted that the Cable Committee is in the process of formulating a policy statement, and that the current premise is that any public meeting can be recorded.
All the March Finance Committee meetings have been recorded and broadcast.
