After a town caucus Saturday and the nomination deadline Tuesday, the ballot for the May 1 town election has been set. Seats on the Board of Selectmen, School Committee, and Board of Health will be contested.
In a typically speedy Town Caucus Saturday evening, Lucy Wallace and Rhonda Sprague were nominated for a three-year seat on the Board of Selectmen. Selectman Peter Warren will not be seeking reelection.
Two three-year openings for School Committee drew four nominees: Bob Sullebarger, Sharon Cronin, Stuart Sklar, and incumbent Patricia Wenger. Sklar chose not to sign his nomination papers and will not be running. Neither will current School Committee member Piali De.
Jack Spero and Sharon McCarthy were nominated Saturday for one three-year position on the Board of Health. By the deadline Tuesday, Spero, the incumbent and current committee chair, had withdrawn from the race, and John Rizzo submitted nomination papers.
Whit Sprague and Steve Finnegan were nominated for one three-year opening as Cemetery Commissioner Saturday, but Finnegan did not sign on by the Tuesday deadline.
Two three-year Warner Free Lecture Trustee openings drew one nomination: Brian Schimpf. Tim Borton was nominated for a two-year opening. Neither Schimpf nor Borton signed their nominations, leaving the ballot empty for those seats.
Remaining openings were uncontested. Robert Eubank is unopposed for another one-year term as incumbent Town Moderator. Janet Vellante was nominated for another three-year term as Town Clerk, and Tree Warden Christian Bilodeau was nominated for another one-year term.
Deborah Thomson was nominated for a three-year Community Preservation Committee seat, and Davida Bagatelle and Christopher Frechette were nominated for two three-year positions on the Library Board of Trustees.
John Lee was nominated for one of two open positions on the Parks and Recreation Commission. There was no nomination for the second opening.
