In response to Mr. Sklar’s letter of Jan. 6, and Ms. Peterson’s of Dec. 23, I would like to set the record straight. Speaking as a private citizen and also as chairman of the Cemetery Commission, they are misinformed. The cemetery commissioners, as elected officials, have the power to do what is in the best interest of the town cemeteries.
We are solely responsible for preserving the Shaker markers as confirmed by the town counsel. We do not need or have not asked for any rigging of the Historical Commission appointees.
