Both the Bromfield girls and boys indoor track teams won their first meet of the season against Oakmont at the Wachusett Regional High School indoor track on Wednesday, Dec 14.
The Bromfield girls had strong showings in all events, as they led their opponents by a score of 53-37.
“Oakmont is a good team,” said Bromfield girls indoor track coach Ray Dunn. “The Bromfield girls pulled together and performed well to win the meet.”
The long-distance Trojans made great strides, as Bromfield eighth-grader Kate Toll dominated the 2-mile race with a time of 13 minutes, 48 seconds. Toll surpassed her competition by over 1 minute, 12 seconds, giving Bromfield an early lead on the scoreboard.

Similarly, Rowatt placed second in the 1000-meter with a time of 3 minutes, 40 seconds, as Toll placed third with a time of 3 minutes, 54 seconds.

The Bromfield girls won both the 4×200-meter and the 4×400-meter relays.
“We had a lot of second-place finishes, which really contributed to our winning point total,” said Dunn. “We had to make a couple of unplanned line-up changes at the last minute, but the team was quick to adapt to the situation and performed well under the pressure.”
The Bromfield boys defeated their opponents to a greater degree than the Lady Trojans with a definitive 66-25 victory.
“The boys did very well for their first meet,” said Bromfield boys indoor track coach David Boisvert. “Just knowing that this was their first official meet shows that there is still the entire season to improve.”
