Sewer work on track
Work on the town center sewer project has continued on schedule in spite of the snowstorm that shut down the town two weeks ago.
At the regular Wednesday morning team meeting this week, Ricciardi Bros.’s project managers reported that they had finished laying pipe along Pond Road and across the school parking lot behind the library. They are now laying pipe on Fairbank Street and will continue working there through Thanksgiving. After that, if the weather holds, the pipe crew will move on to either Old Boston or Old Littleton Road. Also, within the next two weeks, Ricciardi expects to pave both Pond Road and the parking lot.
As residents who drive through the center of town will have noticed, the “No Name” street across from the General Store that connects Massachusetts Avenue to Old Boston Road is now a staging area for sewer construction crews. Pre-fab manholes and gravel are stored there at the moment, and the road is closed to the public. Jim Ricciardi, owner of his eponymous company, said this week he will install silt bags around gravel and waste piles to catch muddy runoff.
Kyle Hedrick, one of the three Sewer Commissioners, reported that the commission had dealt with its first policy question in response to a request for three sewer connections by the owners of buildings at 7 Still River Road. He said the commission had decided only one would be permitted.
