At the second running of the New England Regional Junior & High School Fall Championships in Worcester on Sunday, Bromfield-Acton-Boxboro had a spectacular day.
This head-style race is run with each crew starting on its own and racing the clock down the course to the finish. Over 180 crews were timed over a two-mile course for sculling (each rower has two oars) and novice sweep (each rower pulls one oar) events and 2.5-mile course for varsity scull and sweep events. This was the inaugural race for the team’s newest girls in the Novice 4+ event.
Both boys and girls scullers powered their way to gold medals in each event entered, as well as topping the competition with additional silver and bronze medals. At the end of the day, Bromfield-AB came home with the Overall Team Sculling Points Trophy.
