Wine sales at Harvard Farmers’ Market
The School Committee unanimously voted to grant permission to the Harvard Farmers’ Market to sell wine on school grounds. The Farmers’ Market meets Saturday mornings outside the Hildreth Elementary School.
The Board of Selectmen, as the town’s licensing body, had previously voted to permit the Farmers’ Market to allow farmer wineries to sell their wares, but as the market is on school grounds, where alcohol is typically banned, the Farmers’ Market also had to ask the School Committee.
New clubs approved
The School Committee unanimously approved two new student organizations: the Bromfield Art Club and a local chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).
Bromfield student Katie House proposed the SADD club because, she said, she was in a similar group in her old high school in Arlington. House said the club would restrict its discussions to appropriate topics and that advisors would always be present at meetings.
“We will only focus on positive aspects of making good decisions,” House said.
