Playground Opening
The new Hildreth Elementary School playground will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Aug. 29, at 4 p.m., rain or shine. A short ceremony will thank the community for making the playground a reality and will include a student-led participatory dance. Everyone is invited to stay and play after the event. Concert at Fruitlands
The Boston-based Love Dogs will perform their fusion of jump blues, New Orleans R&B, and early rock ‘n’ roll, Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Fruitlands Museum. Pasta Party and Sports Rally for Bromfield Athletes
All Bromfield students are invited to start off the fall athletic season with a pasta party Thursday, Sept 8, 6:30 p.m. in the Bromfield cafeteria. Student athletes from all seasons are welcome to the student event, but seats are limited. Dinner by Chef Paul will feature stuffed shells with or without meat and Caesar salad, followed by homemade apple crisp. Tickets in advance are $10 and may be purchased at Bromfield during the week at lunch or after school. Tickets at the door are $15. The fundraising event is sponsored by the Bromfield Alpine Ski Team.
Fiber Loft Open House

Ken Harrod Memorial Bike Ride
The Harvard Firefighters Association will host the second annual Ken Harrod Memorial Bike Ride Sunday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in memory of longtime department member Ken Harrod, who died last year. The benefit will offer five different courses: 48 miles, 32 miles, 16 miles, 8 miles, and a 2-mile Fun Ride for kids. Run for the Hills 5K
The Harvard Conservation Trust, with the Harvard Road Race Association, will host the second annual Run for the Hills 5K Run/Walk Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. through some of Harvard’s picturesque conservation land. The race will begin at the track in Harvard Park and will follow trails through the park and adjacent fields. Following the race there will be free massages, product giveaways, light refreshments, and an awards ceremony. Frutilands Museum will offer guided hikes every Saturday at 3 p.m. through Nov. 15, exploring the museum trails and historic sites. Free with admission.

Lions Club Annual Fall Festival

The Special Adults – Greener Earth (SAGE) Crossing Foundation will host a fundraising gala Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at The National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road in Lexington.
