Car Wash at Transfer Station
There will be a car wash at the Transfer Station Saturday, June 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine. The camp is a volunteer-run camp that relies on donations so families with children with life threatening illnesses can attend.
Puttin’ on the Glitz! Fruitlands Annual Benefit
Fruitlands Museum will host a benefit for the museum Saturday, June 18, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. under the tent at Alcott’s Restaurant & Tea Room. This year’s event will include new items in both the live and silent auctions, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a plated dinner by Fireside Catering, desserts, cash bar, live band, and dancing. Family Movie Night
The Harvard Public Library will hold a Family Movie Night Friday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. with popcorn and water for all. Preregister at the library to ensure enough popcorn.
Ice Cream Social and Summer Reading Kickoff
The Harvard Public Library will hold an Ice Cream Social Tuesday, June 28, at 3 p.m. to kick off the Summer Reading Program. Activities will include make-your-ownsundaes, face painting, paper airplane making, sidewalk chalk art, bubble blowing, and socializing with friends. Volunteers are needed to help with activities; sign up to volunteer in the Children’s Room. Rain dates will be Wednesday, June 29, and Thursday, June 30. Ice Cream Social attendees are encouraged to bring their own nondisposable bowls, cups, and spoons. As in the past, the library will also still provide disposable bowls, cups, and spoons. The library asks guests to preregister for the Ice Cream Social, preferably at least a week ahead, so the library can provide enough sweet treats for all and will be able to notify participants in case a rain date is needed. Village Nursery School Ice Cream Social
The Village Nursery School (VNS) invites children ages 2 to 6 years old to cool off and enjoy ice cream and summer children’s activities Wednesday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the VNS playground at 40 Poor Farm Road. Children’s Music Theater at Indian Hill
Indian Hill Music School invites young singers, actors, dancers, and theater-minded kids, ages 8 to 18, to be a part of its production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. Registration is under way for Indian Hill’s four-week Summer Day Musical Theater festival, which begins Monday, June 27, and will run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indian Hill Music School, 36 King St. in Littleton. Benefit Bike Ride
Bicycle riders are invited to join a 20-mile ride through the back roads of Bolton, Lancaster, and Harvard Saturday, June 18, at 9 a.m. starting and ending at Trinity Church, 14 Wattaquadock Hill Road in Bolton.
Riders will receive a free bike check by Assabet River Bicycle and a RoadID gift certificate. There will be a water stop at Carlson Orchards, and a rider support van will travel the route to collect riders who are not able to finish. Funds raised will benefit the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. NRWA Stream Detectives Workshop
Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) naturalists will lead a family workshop Sunday, June 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. that will investigate waterway inhabitants, from whirligigs to water boatmen. The free Stream Detectives program is appropriate for ages 4 through adult. Preregistration is required; space is limited. A World Music for World Peace Festival Saturday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. will benefit the Big Book: Pages for Peace Project, Groton-Dunstable students’ record-breaking attempt to build the biggest book in the world whose topic is peace.
