, Harvard resident and Level 6 team member at Sterling Gym, recently became First Place Regional Champion at the Region 6 Men’s Championships held on April 9 and 10 in Braintree. Region 6 includes Junior Olympic gymnasts from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Yu earned first place in individual events with the following scores: 15.5 floor, 15.1 rings, 15.4 parallel bars. He also won second place on vault with a score of 14.9, third on high bar with a 15.1 and fourth on pommel horse with a 15.5. Yu is 10 years old and practices more than 12 hours each week.
