Saturday, March 26, I had the honor of chairing the Stars Gala benefiting the Village Nursery School. As a mother of three children who have been through or are currently attending VNS, it was my pleasure to help this wonderful school raise essential funds.
The live-and-silent-auction dinner would not have been successful if it weren’t for the continued support and help of the parents of the school. Many thanks go to Tracey Pinto, Laura Thomas, Jenn Russo, Jen Pinney, Erin Baker, Pam Brown, Laura Silk, Angela Hornsten, Lindsay Hart, Jill Lee, Amy Balewicz, Lisa Rosen, Ayleen Gregorian, and many more who helped in other ways and who donated the fantastic items we had to auction.
Besides the organizing and planning, we wouldn’t have been able to put this event together if it weren’t for the support of our local businesses. Many thanks go to our very own Harvard Realty, 10-Plus Painting, Honeyfield Flowers, Nikopoulos Insurance, Sorrento’s Pizza, and the Harvard General Store, among others. Businesses in Bolton, Groton, Littleton, Devens, Acton, Boxborough, and West Concord all gave support by donating items or by selling tickets to our event.
While most attending the Gala were families currently involved with VNS, VNS alumni, or were friends of VNS families, I highly suggest to everyone to think about supporting this strong institution, which constantly provides a quality, nurturing environment for our area’s pre-K children. Since 1953, VNS has been a steward of the community. Many of the teachers at VNS have been here for many years. They stay because of the support of the families and friends of the school, and specifically because they truly love and care for our children. Jane Venditti, the school’s director, has been loyal to the school’s mission to foster the growth of our children through socialization and academic resources.
A special thanks to the talented and gracious Doug Meehan, for being the auctioneer for our event. He made the evening a delight for everyone. It would not have been as successful without his kind support.
