With 1,274 out of 3,776 registered voters voting in Tuesday’s election, incumbents Marie Sobalvarro (910 votes) and Ron Ricci (659) were reelected to the Board of Selectmen. Challenger Stu Sklar garnered 595 votes.
In an e-mail to the Press Wednesday morning, Ricci said, “I would like to personally thank the voters in Harvard for allowing me the privilege of serving another three year term as one of their Selectmen. This would have not been possible without the efforts of innumerable people who encouraged me, held signs in the rain, wrote supportive letters and made phone calls on my behalf. In the coming term, I look forward to serving all the people of Harvard and continuing the progress made in the last three years.”
Sobalvarro told the Press, “I’m delighted to have a three-year term;” and added, “I’m relieved that Question 1 passed.”
Question 1, which passed 820 to 381, authorized a Proposition 2½ debt exclusion of $185,000 to provide the funding for warrant Article 17, which voters at Annual Town Meeting approved on Saturday.
