It is hard not to be discouraged these days, but when you attend an all-boards meeting and see the communication, cooperation, and shared sense of our town’s ability to anticipate, plan for, and meet the challenges ahead, it is very reassuring. The talent and commitment there is amazing.
As selectman, Ron Ricci has created this prudent, forward looking, “can-do” atmosphere.
Ron is a person who takes his service to the town, like his service to his country, seriously and conscientiously. Ron walks his talk. When he expressed concerns over the proposed cost of electrical controls for the pond’s pump station, Ron stepped up and designed and built them himself. In difficult situations, Ron works to bring people together to solve the problem. Most recently, when the Municipal Buildings Committee (MBC) ignored recommendations of the Finance and Capital Committees, Ron co-authored a citizens’ petition article to look at more modest alternatives to the MBC’ recommendation. In doing so, he both honored Town Meeting’s role in establishing policy and helped move the debate from a potentially fractious litmus test on whether you support our historic town center to one that seeks to reconcile our shared values, desires, and means.
Ron’s willingness to confront the hard choices, ability to bridge differences, and his deference to our town-meeting form of governance make him an ideal candidate to continue to serve our community. I urge residents to join me in voting to reelect Ron Ricci selectman.
