The rush of the holidays is over, but, because of the incredible generosity of local companies, churches, civic organizations, schools, and individuals, hundreds of children will be able to enjoy new toys, games, jewelry and clothing as the new year starts.
Loaves & Fishes’ Shop for Your Kids program once again provided our clients with the things their children needed to celebrate the holidays. It seems like everyone pitched in to make this a special time for those in need. We had more than 150 volunteers involved in Toy Day, doing everything from running toy drives, receiving and inventorying the toys at the pantry, to setting up and distributing toys, books and clothing on toy day.
Even after our event, toys continued to pour in, and many were distributed to other local charities. People also brought food donations, which were given out to our clients during regular pantry sessions, and gave us cash to buy toys and food.
Without a doubt, Shop for Your Kids remains one of the most popular programs for Loaves & Fishes and its clients, and we couldn’t do it without the amazing support we receive from all of our communities. You’ve made the lives of lots of children brighter, and we can’t thank you enough. If you’re interested in finding out about Loaves & Fishes, call Gail Wilson at 978-772-4627.
