Town Clerk announces town caucus details

The town caucus to nominate candidates for election to certain town offices will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room. The two people receiving the highest number of votes for each opening will be nominated by the caucus.

Individuals need not be present at the caucus to be nominated for a position; however, they must sign the caucus certificate of nomination by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in the Town Clerk’s office for their names to appear on the ballot.

People can also run for office by taking out nomination papers, which are available now in the Town Clerk’s office. The papers must be filed with the clerk by 5 p.m. Feb. 15.  Forty-one certified signatures of voters registered in Harvard are required to place the candidate on the ballot for town elections. The positions to be filled at the annual town election on April 5 are as follows:

  • Moderator
    One position for one year
  • Board of Selectmen
    Two positions for three years
  • Cemetery Commission
    One position for three years
  • Community Preservation Committee
    Two positions for three years
  • Constable
    One position for three years
  • Board of Health
    One position for three years
  • Housing Authority
    One position for five years
  • Library Trustees
    Two positions for three years
  • Parks and Recreation Commission
    Two positions for three years
  • Planning Board
    Two positions for three years; one position for two years
  • School Committee
    Two positions for three years
  • Tree Warden
    One position for one year
  • Warner Free Lecture
    Two positions for three years
  • Water CommissionOne position for three years

Big Brothers, Big Sisters seek donations

The Big Brother Big Sister Foundation is seeking donations of lightly used clothing, small household items, jeans, books, and shoes. The Foundation will be picking up donations door-to-door in Harvard Friday, Feb. 4. They also offer electronics recycling for a minimal fee and car donations.
