The Bromfield girls and boys indoor track teams participated at the MSTCA holiday qualifiers last Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Reggie Lewis track center. This meet served as an opportunity for runners to race opponents from small and large schools from all divisions of Massachusetts.
This holiday qualifier had only races with distances of 600-meters and less because of the great number of schools that attended the event.
The Bromfield girls team showed skill in several races. Senior Mimi Narbonne and freshman Alexia Lipman ran the 600-meter with incredible times of 1 minute 41.57 seconds, and 1 minute 43.14 seconds, respectively, placing first and second against more than 100 runners. These girls, along with Sydney Durand and Alyssa Swindells, qualified for the State Championships for the 600-meter run.
Senior Kim West also showed an impressive performance in the 300-meter dash with a time of 45.03 seconds. West sprinted to the finish line ahead of most of her opponents; she placed sixth out of 140 runners.
Narbonne, Lipman, Durand, and West combined to win the 4×400 relay with a time of 4 minutes 10.61 seconds. Coach Ray Dunn said that this time is one of the fastest run in the state so far this year.
Bromfield junior Nicholas Kronauer ran an impressive 600-meter run with a time of 1 minute 29.63 seconds, finishing eighth against over 120 runners.
