Garden Club to deliver holiday arrangements
The Garden Club of Harvard will deliver simple, fresh arrangements of flower and greens to Harvard residents who are housebound or in care facilities. Anyone who knows of someone who would like to receive an arrangement should contact Garden Club President Ginger Latham at vlatham@massmed.org or 978-456-6874 as soon as possible.
Loaves & Fishes seeks donations
Loaves & Fishes is seeking donations for its annual “Shop for Your Kids” program. Gifts, which should be new and unwrapped, should have a value of up to $25. New toys, books, and gift cards are appreciated; for a complete list of the most-wanted items, visit www.devenspantry.org/cms/file_repository/Kids-Most-Wanted-Items-2010.pdf or call 978-772-4627. Gifts must be received by Dec. 8.

Parks and Rec announces new rules for Common signs
The Parks and Recreation Commission has revised the rules for posting signs on the Common in order to address an increase in the number of signs advertising recurring or ongoing events in town. In addition, the commission has instituted a size limit on the signs. The hope is, with the revised rules, town groups and organizations will still have plenty of opportunity to get their messages out for events and at the same time keep the signs on the Common to a reasonable number.
It is extremely important for organizations to pick up their signs immediately after their events. Signs that are left on the Common after an event will be picked up and disposed of.
These rules will be effective immediately. The revised rules will be posted on the Parks and Rec website, which can be found from the town’s home page or at www.harvardparkandrec.org.
The rules will also be posted on a small sign on the Common.
Rules for posting signs on Common
- Signs may be posted up to three weeks prior to an event.
- Signs must be removed within 24 hours of event, or three weeks after posting
- Signs must be placed in southwest corner of the Civil War Monument Common
- Signs must be freestanding, a maximum of 10 square feet in size, and not attached to trees in any manner.
- Signs must pertain to community or town events and must not advertise personal or commercial events.
- Signs must be dated with an event date or a posting date.
- Signs abiding by the above rules are considered approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission without further approval.
- Signs of any type may be removed at any time by Parks and Recreation if they do not follow the above rules.
Eldridge to hold listening tour
State Senator Jamie Eldridge will host a Middlesex & Worcester District “Listening Tour” over the next few weeks and invites constituents to attend a meeting to share their thoughts and ideas on legislative priorities for the next session and issues of importance or concern to them.
Eldridge will host five meetings across the district:
- Ayer: Monday, Dec. 6, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 1st floor meeting room, 1 Main St in Ayer
- Westborough: Monday Dec. 13, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Tatnuck Book Sellers, 18 Lyman St. in Westborough
- Acton: Tuesday, Dec. 14, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Facility Meeting Room, 371 Main St. in Acton
- Maynard: Thursday, Dec. 16, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Town Hall, room 201, 195 Main St. in Maynard
- Marlborough: Early January; exact date and place to be announced
