The Bromfield girls and boys indoor track teams started the 2010-2011 season with impressive wins at the John Woods Invitational Saturday. The meet, which serves as a warm-up for the Midland Wachusett season, was attended by 11 Central Mass. schools, all competing for the first time this season.

The Bromfield girls team captured four victories, with Caroline Turnbull winning the high jump at an impressive 5 feet, 4 inches; Mimi Narbonne winning the 600-meter; Alexia Lipman winning the 300-meter; and Sophia Collins winning the 1,000-meter.
Coach Ray Dunn said that Turnbull’s jump was 6 inches higher than her best last year, and qualifies her to compete in the state championships later in the season.
Also placing at the front of the pack were Colby Newsham and Emma Hall, who tied for second place in the 55-meter. Moriah Arnold was third in the 55-meter hurdles and Alyssa Johnson took third place in the 300-meter dash. Kim West was fourth in the 600-meter, and Emma Rothkopf finished fourth in the mile run.
Bromfield junior Nick Kronauer was the boys 600-meter winner; Paul Malloy finished third in the 1,000-meter.
