Veterans’ benefits to be discussed

Harvard Veterans’ Services Agent Dennis Lyddy will be at Hildreth House Monday, Nov. 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. to discuss benefits that may be available to veterans and their widows. Senior veterans and adult children of senior veterans are encouraged to come and learn about what is potentially available so that benefits can be applied for in a timely manner. Call the COA office to sign up.


Free manicures offered

Linda Deneault, from the Right at Home home health care agency, will be at Hildreth House to offer complimentary manicures Monday, Nov. 15, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Appointments are limited to eight slots. Call the COA office to make an appointment.


Flu shot clinic

Nashoba Nursing Service will administer shots for prevention of pneumonia, influenza, and tetanus at Hildreth House Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 2 p.m.


Luncheon trips

The COA has organized some trips that offer a chance to dine at a local restaurant for tasty food and good conversation. The trips planned for November and December will leave Hildreth House at 11:30 a.m. and return by 1:30 p.m. Price is $5 for the van plus the cost of the meal. Planned trips are:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 10: Barbers Crossing North, Sterling. Large menu, lots of good family food: burgers, sandwiches, salads, and plates galore.
  • Friday, Dec. 17: Crossroads Cafe, Acton. Cozy setting, large menu, and good prices.
  • Call the COA for more information.

On the road with COA

Call the COA office at 978-456-4120 for more detailed information or to sign up for trips. Anyone who cannot afford a trip can contact the office about a scholarship.

  • Friday, Nov. 26: The COA has 10 free tickets to a Commonwealth Ballet performance of The Nutcracker at Acton-Boxborough High School. The van will leave Hildreth House at 5:30 p.m.; cost is $2. Call to sign up by Friday, Nov. 19.
  • Saturday, Dec. 11: Matinee performance of It’s Christmas Time by the Reagle Players’ at the Robinson Theatre in Waltham. Leaves Hildreth House at 11:45 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. $45, due with reservation.
