Thank you to Harvard S.A.F.E. Coordinator Oona Aldrich and the Harvard Fire Department for presenting Fire and Life Safety lessons to Hildreth Elementary students. The lessons cover the importance of stop, drop, and roll; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; safe meeting places; tobacco awareness; match and lighter safety; and preventing burns.
The Fire Department will organize a fire safety contest that rewards one student at each grade level with a grand prize: a ride in a fire truck to a pancake breakfast at the fire station with their families, followed by a ride to school with siren sounds and flashing lights. They will also award the Traveling Class Trophy to the class with the highest percentage of contest entries.
We are grateful to the Harvard Fire Department for making Fire Prevention Month an important part of our students’ education.
