Eldridge is the one

October 22, 2010

We strongly encourage Harvard voters to reelect Jamie Eldridge for State Senate.

Jamie understands that the economic viability of our communities depends upon our investment in our infrastructure, attracting companies to our area, and creating good-paying jobs. His work has brought federal stimulus money to the district for road construction projects and wastewater treatment renovations, funding for improvements to the Fitchburg commuter rail line, and studies into the needs of our communities for water infrastructure. Jamie supported the life sciences bill that is investing $1 billion into biotech and other life sciences industries in Massachusetts. In addition, Jamie has championed Massachusetts as a national leader in green jobs and technologies, supporting legislation that will invest in alternative energy companies and create well-paying jobs.

Jamie is a leader in the senate on environmental issues, serving as vice chairman of the Environment Committee, with years of service on organizations like the Acton Conservation Trust, Nashua River Watershed Association, Organization for the Assabet River and the SuAsCo Watershed Community Council.

Jamie is working hard to limit cuts in local funding. As the senate chairman of the Joint Committee on Municipalities, Jamie led the effort in the senate to pass the Municipal Relief Bill, giving communities new tools to manage their budgets and govern more efficiently in these challenging fiscal times. Also, Jamie championed minimum education aid for all to ensure that all communities get their fair share of education aid and reduce the reliance on property taxes to fund education, believing that communities shouldn’t have to face the difficult choice between raising property taxes or cutting cops and teachers.

Finally, promoting public safety, Jamie has been a strong advocate for local aid funding, which helps support our local town fire and police departments. Jamie filed and helped pass the MacNamara Law, which ensures that the family of any volunteer firefighter who is killed in the line of duty will not be left without financial support.

Jamie has served the residents of Harvard well and deserves our vote for reelection as our state senator.
