Robert J. Nicewicz, 71, of Slough Road, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jo Nicewicz; three daughters, Judith Anderson and Bob Searle of Maynard; Cathy Nicewicz and Keith Birr of East Sandwich; Jillian Brooks and her husband Taylor of Harvard (U.S. Army, stationed in South Korea); a son, Robert J. Nicewicz Jr. and Colleen Burke of Boston.
He leaves a sister, Mary Ellen Powers of Tolland, Conn.; sister-in-law, Priscilla Collins of Princeton; four grandchildren, Michael Anderson and his wife, Sarah, of Harvard; Kimberly Gault and her husband, Steve, of Westford; Matthew Anderson of Maynard; and Riley Jane Brooks of Harvard; three great-grandchildren, Joseph and Maddie Gault and Paige Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He is predeceased by two sons, Joseph Nicewicz and Michael Nicewicz, and his brother James Nicewicz.
Robert was born in Clinton to the late Joseph and Teresa (Grady) Nicewicz. He attended local schools and was a graduate of St. John’s High School Class of 1957, with continued studies at Tufts University. Bob enlisted to proudly serve in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, and later returned to begin a successful career with General Electric, IBM, and later Nixdorf Computer, prior to incorporating his own business.
For more than 20 years, Bob has owned and operated Bus-Tech, Inc. in Bedford while remaining a pioneer in the computer engineering field and having been recognized for numerous professional achievements and advancements. He was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish in Harvard and a longstanding member of both the International Golf Club in Bolton and the Country Club at New Seabury on Cape Cod.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bob was a supporting benefactor of countless youth, high school, and college sports teams. He took pleasure in traveling, and enjoyed countless trips flying as a licensed pilot. He cherished time spent with his family, and will be fondly remembered by all who have had the pleasure to have known him.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 20, at the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home in Clinton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton. Burial was at St. John Cemetery in Lancaster.
