It’s official: the doors of the old library are open again, under the auspices of the Pilot Project at the Old Library Working Group, a subgroup of the Municipal Building Committee. We’d like to offer special thanks to all the volunteers who put in tremendous work to get the building ready for use during this six-month experiment, in particular Tim Bragan; Tim Clark; Edie and Larry Hettinger; Sheila Peters; JP Harris; Laurel Ackles and family; and Pat White.
We are pleased to announce the initial class offerings/room use requests received and scheduled to date (and we want to thank all the volunteers who stepped forward to take part in this experiment!): Jennifer McGowan (ages 3 to 4 play-dancing and creative dance); Sheila Peters (teen and adult jazz, stretch, and chair exercise); Edie Hettinger (intermediate and modern dance); Laurel Ackles (beginning and intermediate ballet); Michele Laura (Afro yoga and world dance); Lindsay Zullo (“dancenergy”); Girl Scout Troups 882, 883, and Brownies; Joan Shulman, personal coaching; the Ukulele Union (rehearsals); and Nancy Banker (grades 3 to 5 after-school arts and crafts).
This is just the beginning. Anyone who would like to take a class (or offer a class) or request a space for a group or workshop or presentation is invited to send in ideas by using the forms on our website at www.harvard.ma.us/pilotproject … and we’ll get you on the calendar.
To see full details about classes/use dates, times, and rooms, check out the calendar at the top-right of our home page. New offerings and uses are being added every week, so check back regularly. Some ideas in the works include other musical group workshops, art classes, hobby group meetings, game nights, travel talks, art and photography exhibits, fiction-writer workshops, and more. We invite all to be part of the experiment—as a provider, attendee, or volunteer.
