Police responded to a two-car accident at Ayer and Poor Farm roads at 8:21 a.m. The two cars involved were both traveling south on Ayer Road when the car driven by a Pepperell man slowed to turn, and the car following, driven by a Shirley man, struck it from behind. The Pepperell man was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. The Shirley man was taken to Emerson Hospital, and was also cited for failure to use caution when stopping. Both vehicles were towed. Someone stopped at the station at 4:04 p.m. to report that a vehicle had damaged a cornfield on Littleton County Road.
Wednesday, August 11
Someone stopped at the station at 12:20 p.m. seeking advice regarding telephone solicitors. At 8:35 p.m. a caller reported motor vehicle tracks found on the lawn of a home on Ann Lees Road, whose owners were away. An office checked the area, but found nothing besides the tracks. The caller later reported that the tracks probably were caused by a contractor doing work in the area.
Thursday, August 12
At 2:36 a.m. a Still River Road resident reported hearing a loud noise outside. An officer checked the area, but saw nothing unusual. A caller reported hearing a gun shot in the Bowers Road area at 9:30 a.m. The officer who responded found nothing suspicious, and heard no shots. The ambulance took one man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from a St. John Lane address at 10:55 a.m. At 4:54 p.m. a caller reported seeing kids dressed as police on Littleton County Road. The investigating officer determined that the people in question were in Littleton, and notified Littleton police. A man stopped at the station at 6:27 p.m. to report that his debit card had been stolen in Rhode Island over the weekend, and asked to have the incident logged. The ambulance transported a woman from a Stow Road residence to Emerson Hospital at 7:43 p.m. An officer on patrol found an abandoned bicycle near the General Store at 10:34 p.m.
Friday, August 13
Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard police at a motor vehicle stop in Boxborough at 1:49 a.m. At 10:49 a.m. the beach director at the town beach reported that someone had defaced the picnic tables at the beach with markers. An officer on patrol at 1:38 p.m. found a screen pulled out of a window at the observatory on Pinnacle Road, and notified the building’s caretaker. Police believe it was an attempted forced entry, according to Officer Scott Hughes. At 3:10 p.m. a man stopped at the station to report a missing laptop computer. The case is under investigation. At 9:54 p.m. a caller reported that an unfamiliar occupied car had been parked on Glenview Drive for a time. The occupants told police they were just looking at the stars; they were asked to move along. The ambulance took a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Old Littleton Road residence at 10:19 p.m. A Warren Ave. resident reported seeing people outside with a flashlight at 10:27 p.m. Police checked the area but did not locate anyone.
Saturday, August 14
At 11:57 a.m. a caller reported that there was a man sleeping face down on the side of the road near the Route 2 overpass. Police located the man and gave him a ride to the Ayer train station. The ambulance transported a woman to Emerson Hospital from a Littleton County Road address at 12:39 p.m., after she was thrown from a horse. At 4:36 p.m. a caller reported seeing a silver sports car, heading south on Ayer Road, crossing the center line and striking a real estate sign and a stone wall. Minutes later another caller reported that a silver sports car had hit a utility pole on Pond Road. A caller at the beach reported that the car was headed toward the center of town, with a smashed windshield. Police located and stopped the car as it was heading north on Ayer Road and arrested the driver, Lancaster Country Road resident Richard Olsen, 69, for operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and failing to stay within marked lanes. The car was towed.
Sunday, August 15
At 5:57 a.m. a caller reported seeing a black sedan speeding on Prospect Hill Road. Police did not locate the vehicle. A caller reported at 1:37 p.m. that there were 15 to 20 youths skateboarding on Old Littleton Road. An officer asked them to move along. At 6:32 p.m. a caller asked police to check out a man who was walking on Murray Lane. Police found it was a resident who lived nearby, out for a walk.
Monday, August 16
A Depot Road resident reported that someone was shooting off fireworks in the area at 12:51 a.m. Police checked the area, but did not locate anyone. At 10:48 a.m. police received a call from someone with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife service, reporting that the agency’s surveillance camera at the Oxbow parking lot had picked up the image of a naked man. Thanks to the camera, the person was able to provide a description of the car and a license plate number. Police checked the area over the course of a couple of days, and did make contact with the man, who was from Clinton. They advised him not to return to the area. At 5:04 p.m. police investigated an accident at West Bare Hill and Woodside Roads. There were no injuries; a car was towed. A Warren Ave. resident called at 6:16 p.m. to report seeing an open window in the house next door, whose owners were away. An office checked the area and found nothing suspicious. The occupants of a car parked at the overlook on Prospect Hill Road at 10:56 p.m. were asked to move along.
