Army to hold motorcycle ride for safety at U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Devens

The U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Devens will sponsor a Fun Ride for Safety on Saturday, July 17. The 50-mile ride is slated to pass through several of the local towns around the Fort Devens area. The ride will begin and end at the Welcome Center on Fort Devens just inside the front gate. Riders should plan to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. start (kickstands up). Refreshments will be available after the ride.

Police announce fireworks traffic changes

The Harvard Police Department has announced the following changes to traffic patterns on the evening of July 2 to help manage traffic exiting the fireworks display at Fruitlands Museum:

  • Access to Prospect Hill Road via Still River Road will be closed at 6 p.m., except for residential traffic, which will be allowed until 8 p.m.
  • All access to Prospect Hill Road will be via Old Shirley Road or Depot Road.
  • There will be no access to Prospect Hill Road via Madigan Lane beginning at 6 p.m.
  • After the fireworks, all traffic will turn right out of Fruitlands and exit the area via Still River Road, using both travel lanes of Prospect Hill Road.
  •  There will be no access to Madigan Lane from Prospect Hill Road; all vehicles must leave via Still River Road.Police officers will be stationed at the intersection of Prospect Hill and Still River roads to answer questions and facilitate traffic flow.
