Emily McCourt of Granite View Lane was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude at the 164th graduation exercises of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester on Friday, May 28.
McCourt majored in mathematics with a minor in computer science and was awarded membership in Pi Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honors society. She was also the recipient of the Robert Edmond Jones Award, awarded by the Holy Cross Theatre Department for achievement in the areas of design and technical theatre.
While at Holy Cross, McCourt was active in the Theater Department, was employed by the college as a computer science research intern, and served as a grader in the mathematics department. In addition, she worked as a mathematics tutor for a number of local high school students.
McCourt has recently accepted a position of employment as a cognition/perception technical assistant in the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
McCourt is a 2006 graduate of the Bromfield School and is the daughter of Scott and Kim McCourt.
