The Municipal Buildings Task Force will be presenting at Saturday’s Town Meeting a solid next step plan for the use and assessment of the town center buildings—Hildreth House, the old Hapgood Library and Town Hall. Specifically, the plan calls for implementing a program to explore the utilization of the Hapgood Library.
Over the last year, through public workshops, the task force has heard from more than 100 residents who have voiced their recommendation for a community building where small groups, forums, local organizations, and events could meet and bring folks together. The dialogue has fostered a renewed interest in developing a dynamic year-long pilot program to explore the vitality a community center model could offer our town.
I urge residents to support the task force proposal at Town Meeting. Energy, commitment, and leadership have carried the project to this point, but resident support is essential to fuel the momentum and mobilize the project. This is an opportunity for all to join in building community in Harvard.
