Harvard police were called to assist state police with an accident on the Route 2 on-ramp at 10:03 p.m.
Wednesday, April 7
An officer on patrol found a door open at a Prospect Hill Road address at 3:27 a.m. and closed and locked it. At 9:30 a.m. a caller on Prospect Hill Road reported that his 3-year-old son had gotten away from him and he couldn’t find him. Police helped search for the boy and found him across the street, where he said he’d been looking at a flag pole. At 12:33 p.m. the ambulance took a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Ayer Road address. A set of Toyota keys found at the library was turned in at the police station at 2:12 p.m. The keys are still at the station. At 8:27 p.m. a caller reported seeing five youths jump into a car near the Shaker Cemetery, and head toward the center of town. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Thursday, April 8
An officer on patrol at 2:33 a.m. discovered that the front door of a business on Ayer Road was unlocked, although the interior door was locked. The officer secured the door and notified the owner. An officer on patrol at 3:14 a.m. stopped to investigate a woman standing at the end of a driveway on Still River Road. The woman told the officer she was just out to get some fresh air. At 11:05 a.m. the vice principal at Bromfield reported that two iPods had reportedly been taken from the boys locker room. The case is under investigation. At 12:48 p.m. police responded to the scene of an accident between two cars and a deer. One car was towed; the other was badly damaged, but driveable. There were no injuries except to the deer, which did not survive the encounter. At 3:29 p.m. police received a report of a possible past burglary at a residence on Old Littleton Road. The case is under investigation. At 8:25 p.m. someone turned in a key found at McCurdy track. It is still at the station.
Friday, April 9
At 7:53 a.m. Bolton police called for Harvard officers to assist investigating a residential burglar alarm, but later canceled the call. At 4:57 p.m. Dudley police asked Harvard police to check the welfare of a Harvard resident.
Saturday, April 10
A Madigan Lane resident reported at 11:06 a.m. that there was an unoccupied car containing beer cans that was parked in his front yard, and he didn’t know why it was there. Police contacted the car’s owner and asked that the car be moved. At 11:32 a.m. a caller reported that someone had driven a car across the Depot Road soccer field and then parked on the side of the field. Police located the driver, who told them that, because it was so cold, she had driven across the field to get to her children so they wouldn’t have to walk across the field to her. Police advised the woman that driving on the field was not permitted. At 12:18 p.m. the ambulance transported a man to UMass Medical Center in Worcester from an East Bare Hill Road residence. At 4:14 p.m. a caller reported that someone had stolen her cell phone. It turned out to be a misunderstanding between two acquaintances. A South Shaker Road resident reported that her neighbor’s dogs were on her deck, and asked that they be removed. The animal control officer was notified.
Sunday, April 11
At 8:13 a.m. state police called to report that two dogs had run onto Route 2 from Ayer Road. Police recovered one dog, but the other got away. The animal control officer was called for assistance. At 1:20 p.m. firefighters responded to the scene of an out-of-control permit fire on East Bare Hill Road and extinguished the blaze. Someone stopped at the station at 2 p.m. to report witnessing a hit-and-run accident at Bromfield, and provided police with a description and plate number of the vehicle that left the scene. Police discovered significant damage to the car that was hit. The case is under investigation.
Monday, April 12
Someone called the station at 8:33 a.m. seeking legal advice about a domestic matter. An officer on patrol at 7:52 p.m. noticed a truck parked in the road on Ayer Road, and asked the driver to move it. At 10:39 p.m. a towing company called to report that they had been asked to tow a vehicle from Old Mill Road. The caller told police the car had been in an accident and sustained more than $1,000 in damage. The case is under investigation.
