Stecyk logs fastest time in the United States for 11-year-olds in 200-yard backstroke

of Warren Ave. came home from the New England Swimming Age Group Championships held in White River Junction, Vt., with the current fastest U.S. time in the 200-yard backstroke for 11-year-old girls, logging a time of 2:10.46.

She was the third-place high-point winner at the meet, which took place from Feb. 25 to 28, winning both the 200-yard backstroke and the 1,650-yard (1 mile) freestyle events, as well as earning two second-, one third-, three fourth-, and one fifth-place finishes in other events. She also broke three team records for 11-12 year olds.

Stecyk trains with the Greenwood Memorial Swim Club in Gardner under Coach Don Lemieux.
