At 2:40 p.m. a caller on Littleton Road reported hearing gunshots in the area. The investigating officer found that a resident was target shooting on his own property; no action was needed. A Harvard woman called police from her car at 8:24 p.m., while heading home, and reported that she had received a call from her neighbor, who told the caller that her dog was barking as if someone was at her house. The caller said there had been someone stalking her, against whom she had taken out a restraining order, and she was concerned that the stalker might be at her house. Police found no one at her home. At 10:45 p.m. two callers reported a mattress in the road on Ayer Road. Police checked the area, but found nothing.
Wednesday, January 27
Police responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Ayer Road near the Route 2 eastbound offramp that occurred when one car stopped at the stop sign coming off the ramp, and was rear-ended by a second car, which didn’t stop fast enough. There were no injuries; no tow was required. The driver of the second car was given a written warning for not using care in starting from a stopped position. An officer on patrol made note of an unoccupied car parked on Tahanto Trail. He checked the area, but found no one around. At 1:29 p.m. the Littleton Police Department requested the assistance of Harvard police, fire, and ambulance personnel in responding to an accident on Route 2 eastbound. The Littleton ambulance, which was also present, transported one person to the hospital.
Thursday, January 28
At 2:40 a.m. an officer stood by while a repossession company removed a car from an Old Shirley Road residence. A caller reported at 8:11 a.m. that a Subaru station wagon had passed a school bus on Still River Road. The caller was not able to get the vehicle’s plate number; police did not locate the car. At 3:05 p.m. a man stopped at the station to report receiving harassing phone calls from a credit card company regarding charges being made by his ex-wife in Sweden. He was advised to track the calls and notify his phone company as well as the attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission. A man stopped at the station at 9:19 p.m. to report that while he was traveling south on Ayer Road, his car had been side-swiped by a small silver Toyota headed toward Ayer, knocking the side mirror off his car. He was unable to get a plate number. Police notified Ayer police, but they were unable to locate the vehicle. At 10:31 p.m. a Littleton Road resident called to report heavy smoke in the house. Firefighters found an artificial Christmas tree on fire in the home’s garage. They extinguished the fire, removed the tree, and ventilated the home.
Friday, January 29
At 10:46 a.m. a Still River Road resident reported that while she was walking her dogs, a man driving a truck had stopped and glared at her. A man stopped at the station at 12:41 p.m. to report that, while he was traveling south on Ayer Road in his dump truck, an oncoming vehicle had cut in front of him to turn into Sorrento’s parking lot, forcing the dump truck to swerve to avoid hitting the car. The truck driver said that the other driver had been talking on his cell phone. The car was gone when police arrived to investigate. At 1:46 p.m. a woman stopped at the station to inquire about getting a restraining order. A Mass. Ave. resident called at 4:41 p.m. to report that a package may have been stolen from her mailbox four days earlier.
Saturday, January 30
At 11:08 a.m. an Ayer Road resident called to report that her house and car had been struck with eggs during the night. At 12:19 p.m. an Ann Lees Road resident reported hearing gunshots in the area. Police checked the area, but found nothing, and checked with neighbors, who said they did not hear the shots. At 2 p.m. someone stopped at the station looking for advice regarding her daughter’s behavior.
Sunday, January 31
At 2:53 p.m. a caller reported that cans were missing from the Boy Scout trailer in the Department of Public Works yard. A Lovers Lane resident called at 7:28 p.m. to report the smell of something burning in the home. The fire officer who responded did not smell any smoke.
Monday, February 1
At 12:11 a.m. a man stopped at the station to express concern for his son, who was three hours late returning home from work. The son, who is 21, had gotten a ride from a friend, but the two did not go directly home.
