Garden Club accepting grant applications
The Garden Club of Harvard offers annual awards for projects or academic programs in the fields of horticulture, landscape design, forestry, botany, environmental sciences, or related subjects. The purpose is to provide eligible candidates with funding for activities or studies that will be of significant benefit to the applicant, the organization and/or the greater community. In addition to funds for community-based projects, the grants can also be awarded to individuals from Harvard as scholarships toward the study of environmental or horticultural sciences.
Current Harvard residents, full-time town employees, and designated representatives of town organizations are eligible to apply for grants or scholarships, which may range from $50 to $500. Application forms are available at the schools, the Town Hall, and the Harvard Public Library, or online at the Garden Club website, www.harvardgardenclub.org under “What We Do.” Applications must be received by April 15; awards will be announced in June. Caucus to be held March 6
The Town Caucus to nominate candidates for election to certain town offices will be held Saturday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room. The two people receiving the highest number of votes for each opening will be nominated by the caucus.
People need not be present at the caucus to be nominated for a position; however, nominees must sign the caucus certificate of nomination by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the Town Clerk’s office for their names to appear on the ballot.
People can also run for office by taking out nomination papers, which are available now in the Town Clerk’s office. For more information call Town Clerk Janet Vellante at 978-456-4100.
