Looks forward to making progress

December 18, 2009

1776 is a great number for so many reasons. Aside from the patriotic reference, it is the number of Harvard voters who voted in our last election—and represents one of the highest percentage turnouts in the state for this election. I am grateful to all who cast their ballots and did our town proud.

I am also grateful for, and humbled by, the many residents who cast their vote for me and the team of more than 200 folks who worked on behalf of my campaign. And I want to congratulate Bill Johnson on a well-run, highly effective campaign as well.

Now we face a challenging year and a half, one in which we will likely face reductions in state aid, the commencement of the town center sewer building project, and the resolution of the union contracts. I pledge to do my best as the new selectman to serve all of you. Together, working collaboratively, we will make progress. And that is, I believe, the message sent by our large voter turnout.

I look forward to hearing from residents via e-mail (marie@sobalvarro.org) or phone (978-456-9576) with suggestions, questions, and concerns.
