Harvard Friends of the Arts (HFOA) is a subcommittee of the Friends of the Harvard Public Library and was founded in 2007 as the new library was being built. The original impetus was for a group of volunteers to bring performance to a great space called Volunteers Hall located in the “old” part of the new library. The mission and vision of the HFOA is to encourage, stimulate and promote high-quality, diverse professional and amateur creative talents that will enhance the quality of life in our community. We want to create a central gathering place and community resource where people support the transformative power of artist expression.
For its third season, HFOA is bringing a variety of performers to the stage. From the American songbook writing of Irving Berlin, to the blues, to stories told by one of New England’s premier storytellers, we aim to have something that will appeal to everyone. We will also bring back an old-time radio show production along with a town talent show. Admission to all performances is free, but we welcome donations.
