On Sunday, Nov. 8, the Congregational Church of Harvard surprised its pastor, Greg Schmidt, with a celebration acknowledging his 25 years of ordained ministry. The church gave Schmidt a plaque reading, “The Minister’s Study, dedicated to The Rev. Dr. Gregory Watson Schmidt in honor and celebration of the 25th anniversary of his ordination as minister in the United Church of Christ.” Many family members and friends were in attendance at the morning worship service, which was based on his ordination service in Manhasset, N.Y., 25 years ago. Schmidt served churches in Duxbury; Ithaca, N.Y.; Short Hills, N.J.; and Shelton, Conn., before coming to Harvard.
