Holiday Gift Fair and Open House
The General Store and the Harvard Press will provide an opportunity for early holiday shopping at their holiday gift fair Upstairs at the General Sunday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local vendors will offer pottery, jewelry, holiday wreaths and centerpieces, day planners, quilts, original art, hand-knits, cards, and more.

Alarms and Excursions at Bromfield
The Bromfield Drama Society will present Michael Frayn’s fast-paced farce, Alarms and Excursions, at the Bromfield School Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, at 8 p.m. Similar in style and theme to Frayn’s popular Noises Off, the eight short comedies that comprise the piece show how technology and miscommunication infect our lives. Covered Bridges Exhibit Extended
The Harvard Historical Society will extend its Covered Bridges exhibit to Sunday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harvard Historical Society in Still River. The late William T. Maxant’s collection of photographs and memorabilia, along with the Historical Society’s collection of Harvard’s past treasures, will be on display. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
Turkey Raffle
The Harvard firefighters will host their annual Turkey Raffle Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Harvard center fire station. Admission and refreshments are free. This year’s events include door prizes, unlimited rounds, kids-only rounds, and more than 150 turkeys.
Warner Free Lecture: Preparing Seafood
The Warner Free Lecture Series will present Harvard resident Chris Basile, owner of the Quarterdeck Market in Maynard, Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in Volunteers Hall. Basile will share his experience in the selection and preparation of fresh seafood, and will give an overview of his favorites.
Walking the Fruitlands Landscape
Fruitlands curator Mike Volmar will lead a walking tour, “History Underfoot: Walking the Fruitlands Landscape,” Saturday, Nov. 14, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the museum. The walk is limited to 10 participants, whom Volmar will help discover the past through the geology, ecology, wildlife habitat, and archaeology of the Fruitlands landscape. The tour is free with museum admission.
Lego Club
The Harvard Public Library will host a Lego Club for children age 5 and older Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1:30 to 3 p.m at the library. Participants should bring their own Lego and/or Duplo bricks. Creative building is encouraged; the library will have Lego books available for inspiration. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun and assist with supervision. Pre-registration in the Children’s Room is requested. Enrollment is limited to 15.
Historical Society Meeting
The Historical Society’s annual meeting will take place Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Still River meeting house.
‘There’s a Porcupine in My Outhouse’
The Garden Club of Harvard will hold a special evening program Monday, Nov. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Volunteers Hall. Guest speaker and author Michael Tougias will present “There’s a Porcupine in My Outhouse,” a humorous look at learning about nature the hard way. The meeting is free and open to the public. HCT Annual Meeting
The Harvard Conservation Trust will host guest speaker Ben Watson, farm activist, orchardist, and “slow food” proponent, at its annual meeting Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Harvard Historical Society in Still River. There will be traditional offerings of gingerbread and cider after the program.
Bromfield Craft Program
The Harvard Public Library will host a craft program led by Bromfield senior Erica Bonnell for students in grades 6 and higher Thursday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. Participants will make edible turkeys out of Oreos, peanut butter cups, and more. HES Book Fair
The Parent-Teacher Organization will host its annual Scholastic Book Fair at the Harvard Elementary School Monday through Friday, Nov. 16 through 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. It will also be open Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. The fair will also be open during parent-teacher conferences Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Books for sale will include those for both children and adults, including best-sellers and cookbooks. Book Fair proceeds are returned to the school as books for the classrooms and cash funds. NRWA 40th Anniversary
The Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA) will celebrate its 40th anniversary with its “Forty on our Fortieth” program Friday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Fitchburg Armory, 14 Wallace St. in Fitchburg. The program will honor people and organizations who have been a part of NRWA’s four-decade success story. The public is welcome. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and time to visit exhibits. Holiday Fair
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Ayer will hold a free holiday fair Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. Basketball-Shooting Clinic
Paul Hoover, author of Pro Shooting Secrets and creator of the Pro Shot Shooting System, will conduct a basketball-shooting clinic for students in grades 5 through 12 Sunday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg. The Nov. 15 clinic will cover release and accuracy techniques, and the following clinic will cover balance and speed. Cost is $50 for one clinic and $75 for both. Special Education Rights and Evaluation Process
Harvard’s SEPAC and Nashoba District SPED PAC will partner to present the Basic Rights workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7:15 p.m. at Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton. The workshop, presented by Sandra Osborne of the Federation for Children with Special Needs, will outline the evaluation process and provide families with an introduction to the rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other legislation. Thanksgiving Family Concert
The Orchestra of Indian Hill will perform a pre-Thanksgiving family concert Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. at Littleton High School Performing Arts Center, 56 King St. in Littleton. Artistic Director and Conductor Bruce Hangen will conduct a concert of Thanksgiving and seasonal favorites, including the “Hansel & Gretel Prelude,” Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait,” “Over the River and Through the Woods,” “Turkey in the Straw,” and “76 Trombones.” Guest artists will include the student winners of the Indian Hill Music School’s annual Side-by-Side Competition, which gives accomplished student players the opportunity to “share a stand” with a professional player.

‘Of Praise and Promise’
The music program at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church will present “Of Praise and Promise,” a musical celebration in honor of St. Cecilia, patron saint of music, Sunday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. at 435 Central St. in Acton. Under the direction of David Potts, the concert will feature music of Purcell, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Lauridsen and Pinkham, performed by the St. Matthew’s Festival Choir, St. Matthew’s Festival Brass, St. Matthew’s Choristers, and organist Kenneth Plant.
