The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) has received seven funding requests, totaling $375,000, for the fiscal year 2011 funding cycle. Applicants include the Conservation Commission, which has requested $200,000 in funds for future open space acquisition; the Board of Selectmen, which has asked for $200,000 for restoration of the Town Hall exterior; the Congregational Church, which has requested $100,000 for exterior restoration; Town Clerk Janet Vellante, who has requested $57,000 to support permanent preservation of town records dating back to 1732; Fruitlands Museum, which has asked for $15,000 for preservation of historic documents and $5,000 for an update to its site ecological inventory; and the Historical Commission, which has requested $5,655 toward restoration and preservation of grave markers in the Shaker Cemetery.
CPC Chairman Steve Rowse said in a press release issued this week that review meetings with each of the applicants have been scheduled between Oct. 22 and Nov. 18. He said he expects deliberations on the applications to take place in January, culminating in a recommendation for Annual Town Meeting as to which projects the town should support.
