The Donaldson family placed second in the Voyageur class of a three-day, 90-mile canoe race in the Adirondacks over the weekend of Sept. 11 to 13. Paddling a 26-foot Voyageur canoe with two other family members and two friends, the Donaldsons completed the race over rivers, lakes, and portages in 18 hours, 39 minutes, and 26 seconds, a little over an hour more than the winner in the class. The Donaldsons’ team members ranged in age from 8 to 78. All family members trained on Cape Cod and Bare Hill Pond. It was Bob Donaldson’s seventh Adirondack Canoe Classic 90-mile race. He has had several top-three placements in competitive classes.
