Jennie Purnell, of Stow Road, a political science professor at Boston College and director of the Center for Student Formation, was selected by the Undergraduate Government of Boston College as this year’s winner of the Mary Kaye Waldron Award. The award, presented by students to their mentors, honors an administrator, faculty member, or staff member whose commitment goes beyond a field of expertise and demonstrates a deep belief in the need to enhance student life in a positive manner. The award was established by the undergraduates in memory of Mary Kaye Waldron, a 1995 graduate, who died in her senior year. Waldron, a 1991 Bromfield graduate, was the daughter of Bonnie and Jim Waldron, formerly of Scott Road. Purnell, the wife of Petri Flynt and mother of sons Eric and Jeremy, received her award at a dinner on April 23 at Boston College.
