One of the goals of the PTO this year is to hold events that appeal to the entire community in order to bring people together for some fun. We’re so happy that our “free” bingo night, Festival of Cultures, and sporting goods sale and pancake breakfast were well attended by folks from all sectors of the community. Without the hard work of many volunteers, these events would not have been possible. At bingo night, Mary Beth Banios and Jim O’Shea demonstrated a gift for calling bingo, and we thank them. We would have been lost without the help of Bromfield teachers Kathleen Doherty and Julie Horton and Bromfield student volunteers. We’re so grateful for Lisa Blair and her hospitality committee for their delicious goodies. Deb Barton worked very hard to pull off another fabulous Festival of Cultures. We thank Deb and her team of volunteers and the people who shared their fascinating cultures with us. Virginia Justicz and a team of dedicated volunteers orchestrated the first used sporting goods sale. Thanks to Ellen Cavanagh, Charlotte Winchell, Leslie Hart, Lauren Hunnewell, Julie Sennott, Robin Peters, Andrea Hill, and Forrest Hodgkins for their help collecting donations, sorting and tagging items, and carrying loads of stuff back and forth. We thank everyone who generously donated their sports equipment and those who made purchases. The pancake breakfast was a hit, and we thank the many volunteers who helped advertise, set up, serve pancakes, pour juice, and bus tables, and for the patience of all who waited in the long pancake line. A big thank-you goes to Mike and Brian Mintz for being Chef Paul’s right-hand men and kitchen cleanup crew. We’re grateful to the school custodians who, in answering our many questions, helped us plan the setup for these events and came in on the weekends for the final cleanup. Lastly, we (and his fan club) thank Chef Paul for volunteering his time and talents with his usual flair, skill, and good humor.
