Tuesday, March 24: At 12:22 p.m. a woman stopped at the station looking for advice. A caller reported a missing horse in the neighborhood of Littleton and Whitney roads at 9:40 p.m. and asked for assistance in locating the animal. Police joined the search; the owner located the wandering horse.
Wednesday, March 25: Littleton police called the station at 1:47 p.m. to alert Harvard police to a report of cars racing near the Harvard-Littleton town line. Police did not locate the vehicles.
Thursday, March 26: Police called Verizon at 7:28 a.m. to notify the company of a low-hanging wire on Ayer Road. A caller reported at 8 a.m. that he had just hit a deer with his car on Mass. Ave. Police responded to the scene and called the animal control officer to euthanize the injured deer. The car sustained extensive damage, but was drivable, police said. A car driven by a Harvard woman on Ayer Road was struck from behind by a car driven by a Waltham man at 11:20 a.m., when the woman stopped her car to make a left-hand turn. The woman was taken to Emerson Hospital by the Ayer ambulance; the man was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by the Littleton ambulance. Both cars were towed; no citations were issued. The Fire Department responded to the report of an out-of-control permitted fire on Old Shirley Road at 2:05 p.m. and extinguished the blaze. A woman stopped at the station at 3:36 p.m. to inform police that her neighbor’s car displayed out-of-state license plates. A man was taken by ambulance from a Shaker Road residence to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 6:47 p.m.
Friday, March 27: A man was taken by ambulance from a Littleton Road address to Emerson Hospital at 11:23 a.m. At 11:28 a.m. firefighters were called back to a Shaker Road address where an out-of-control permitted fire that had been extinguished on Thursday had rekindled; they doused the smoldering embers. A caller reported seeing youths riding on the roof of a car in the vicinity of the library at 2:40 p.m. Police did not locate the joy riders.
Saturday, March 28: At 12:38 a.m. the ambulance responded to a medical call on South Shaker Road, but entered the wrong driveway and became stuck. The Ayer ambulance was called to respond to the medical emergency; a tow truck was called at 12:55 a.m. to assist the Harvard ambulance. A car traveling on Fairbank Street, driven by a Groton man, was rear-ended by a car driven by a Harvard man at 1:46 p.m., when the Groton man stopped to make a turn. The Groton man was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Both cars were towed; no citations were issued. Littleton police asked Harvard police to investigate a burglar alarm just over the town line at 3:35 p.m.; it was a false alarm. A Warren Ave. resident called police at 4:52 p.m. to report that someone had taken the trees he had cut down and had piled near the edge of his property. At 8:59 p.m. a caller reported that a youthful game of hide-and-seek was taking place on the Common, and youths were seen climbing the fire escape at the General Store and roaming through the cemetery. The responding officer asked them to move along.
Sunday, March 29: At 9:40 a.m. someone turned in a “green-man-red-hat-slow-down” driveway sign found on Lovers Lane. The owner can reclaim it at the station.
Monday, March 30: An officer removed branches from the road near Still River and Prospect Hill roads at 3:43 a.m. A woman was taken by ambulance from a Bolton Road address to Emerson Hospital at 11:05 a.m. A woman stopped at the station at 12:41 p.m. to speak to an officer about a previous case. The ambulance took someone from a Mass. Ave. address to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 2:33 p.m. Detroit police called the station at 5 p.m. to request a welfare check on a resident on Lancaster County Road. Police delivered a “no trespassing” order to a guest at a Stow Road residence at 5:58 p.m. At 6:08 p.m. a Poor Farm Road resident reported that someone had stolen wood that was piled at the side of his driveway. A child was taken by ambulance from a Littleton Road address to Leominster Hospital at 11:38 p.m.
